Strandhill is Irish winner of the 2019 EDEN Award.

Both Strandhill and adventure sligo where both in the running for the 2019 Eden Award. This afternoon, it was announced that Strandhill were the overall winner of the European Destination of Excellence award with Adventure Sligo being runner-up.
So first of all, we would like to wish both a huge congratulations from the team at Choosesligo, a well deserved award  for all the hard work they put into it.

So what is the Eden award?  EDEN (European Destinations of Excellence) is a project that promotes sustainable tourism development models across the European Union. National competitions take place every year and result in the selection of a tourist “Destination of Excellence” for each participating country.
Strandhill Community Development Association was one of four Irish destinations shortlisted under this year’s theme of excellence is Health and Well-Being Destination tourism.

Strandhill has a strong community spirit, one where businesses and people alike work together on establishing Strandhill as the place to be. From a tourism perspective, Strandhill is a scenic village which has been attracting surfers, daytrippers,... for a long while now. The village which is located along the shores of the Wild Atlantic has many established businesses who are all after one thing, health and wellness. From world renowned Voya to the well known Strandhill People's Market in the airport hangar to the fabulous food on offer, Strandhill is and will always be on the map as a must visit location.
