Description:Sligo Baroque Music Festival began life in 1995, founded by Rod Alston with the Sligo Early Music Ensemble. It has become a well-established highlight in the cultural calendar of Sligo and the north-west of Ireland, taking place on the last weekend of September each year.
The festival aims to present high quality performance of baroque music in a friendly and informal context, and featuring a mix of Irish and international performers - some with an established international reputation. This year, The London Handel Players, who delighted us in 2020 with the complete Brandenburg Concertos, and the Croatian Baroque Ensemble, one of the leading period music groups of eastern Europe, will come together with a cast of young Irish singers in our own new production of Purcell’s operatic masque The Fairy Queen, and there will be wide range of other attractive recitals and events. When : 27th September to 29th September Where: Sligo, County Sligo |
