Imagine being a pirate for the day
Aughris Head
Park the car at the picturesque fishing harbour at Aughris. This peaceful area brings you fabulous scenery as far as Donegal and the Dartry mountains across the bay.
There is a small coastal path next to the slip stream to the pier which meanders around the rocky coastline. Keep an eye out for seals, these curious animals can be easily spotted in the water beneath the rocks which are also home to the many nesting birds. At the end of the walk is a small beach which is flanked by small caves on either side of the beach. |
Rosses Point (2nd beach)
When you reach the second beach at Rosses point, there is a small cave called "the cellars" on your left in the cliffs.
Within this cave are the engraved words "OCEAN HALL" . Rumour goes that the cave was used by smugglers who knew about a secret tunnel from the cave to the cellars below Elsinore House |
