Description
The Raghly Loop Trail provides stunning coastal views across one of the most scenic stretches of the Sligo shoreline. Starting from the roadside parking near Raghly Pier, head slightly uphill with a row of houses on your left. After a short distance, you’ll reach the entrance to the cliff walk on your right.
The trail follows a gravel path along the clifftop, offering sweeping views towards Yellow Strand and, on clear days, all the way to the North Mayo coast. Sheep often graze in the fields to your left, while the Atlantic stretches out endlessly to your right.
One of the most striking features along the route is the series of blowholes, carved over millions of years through porous limestone. These geological formations are especially impressive during stormy weather, when waves force air and water upward through the rock.
As the trail leaves the coastline, it joins a quiet minor road. Turn right and follow it downhill towards Raghly Harbour.
Raghley Harbour is an ideal stopping point, where you can admire the many boats moored in the sheltered bay and take in the stunning views towards Rosses Point, the Dartry Mountains, and Knocknarea.
From here, it’s only a short stroll back to the starting point, completing a scenic and refreshing loop.
