Description
Just a short distance from Sligo town, the village of Carney offers a peaceful escape where nature, history, and gentle rural beauty come together. It may be small, but Carney has a charm that makes visitors slow down and enjoy the moment. At the heart of the village, you’ll find a lovely picnic area right beside the river. It’s the kind of place where you can sit back, listen to the water flowing past, and enjoy the calm surroundings. One of Ireland’s most famous heritage sites, Lissadell House, is only a short distance away. This iconic estate, once home to the Gore-Booth family and visited by W.B. Yeats, adds a layer of history and culture to any trip through the Carney area. Its gardens, shoreline, and exhibitions make it a perfect addition to your visit.
