Taxi's are regulated in Ireland by the national transport authority. There are different ways of getting taxi's , by booking them in advance or just flagging one down.
If you are travelling a big distance, then we recommend booking one in advance and agreeing upon a price upfront. If it is a short distance, then you can just head to the taxi rank or flag a taxi down. All taxi's in Ireland are metered.

Taxi's standing at the taxi rank are available for hire. You can choose which taxi you want to hire, it doesn't necessarily needs to be the first taxi in the queue. No additional fee can be charged for hiring a taxi from a taxi rank.
