Description
Ballyconnell is an exposed beach break with fairly consistent surf, working well throughout the year thanks to its open position on the coast. Most of the swell here comes from groundswells, with the best swell direction from the west, giving the beach its reliable wave quality. The ideal wind direction is from the southeast, helping to clean up the waves and shape the peaks.
The beach break offers both left‑ and right‑hand waves, making it a versatile spot for surfers of different styles. When the surf is firing, the lineup can get busy, as locals and visitors alike flock to make the most of the conditions.
Beyond the waves, Ballyconnell is a beautiful stretch of coastline — a place to walk, breathe in the Atlantic air, and enjoy sweeping views across Sligo’s rugged seascape.
Beach: Stones
Sports: Surfing, SUP, sea kayaking
